Rotorua Boys’ High School Board seek an inspirational leader who has the knowledge, commitment and confidence to continue to strengthen current school performance and lead the school into the future.

Founded in 1914 but established on its current impressive Pukuatua Street site in 1927, Rotorua Boys’ High School is a state Year 9-13 secondary school in central Rotorua with a roll of 1260 and offering boarding to 140 students. Our school therefore celebrates its centennial in 2027. Rotorua Boys’ High School is a member of the strong New Zealand Super Eight group of schools.

Rotorua Boys’ High School is also known as ‘Raukura’ and 75% of our students are Māori. Our school demonstrates and celebrates outstanding success for our tamatāne Māori as tamatāne Māori.

Rotorua Boys’ High School enjoys national and international recognition for student success and outcomes across all dimensions of the school programme. In 2019, the school won the supreme award in the Prime Ministers’ Education Excellence Awards in recognition of this success.

Our new Tumuaki/Principal will be an experienced educational leader, with a proven record in boys’ education and boarding, who is able to lead our school to further levels of excellence through the years ahead. In particular our new Tumuaki/Principal should demonstrate relevant experience and commitment to the following :

  • POU TĀNGATA - leader of people
  • POU AKO - leader of vision for learning
  • POU TIKANGA MĀORI - a leader who brings Te Tiriti o Waitangi to life in the school, as the founding document of a bicultural Aotearoa New Zealand
  • POU MAHI - leader of operations
