Gold Medals for Waka Ama Teams (18/05/16)

The National Secondary Schools Waka Ama Competition was held  on Lake Tikitapu.  The Rotorua Boys’ High School paddlers achieved fantastic results and brought home 4 GOLD medals and 1 BRONZE in the Championship races, as well as winning a Plate and a Bowl final. 

First honours for the school went to Manaaki Te Kowhai who won GOLD in the U19 Boys - W1 250m Championship Final on the first day of competition.  Manaaki ended the competition winning 3 Gold Medals in total.  

Pukeroa, our J19 W6 team, proved unbeatable, winning GOLD MEDALS in both the J19 W6 250m and 500m races. 

Our Raukura team also won GOLD in the J16 W6 250m Championship final. 

RBHS A were the Plate Winners in the J19 W6 250m and RBHS 1 won the Bowl for the J16 W6 250m race. 

Along with Rotorua Girls High School, the RBHS paddlers were successful in winning a BRONZE medal for the U16 Mixed - WT12 250m event. 

Congratulations to all students who represented themselves and their sport well, along with their coaches and support crew.

RBHS 1: Douglas Eparaima, Nelson Ulale, Ngatai Armstrong, Manaia Hapi, Poihipi Papuni, Chase Waikato, Tamati Cassidy, Maneo Armstrong, Kahurangi Kingi.
