This year Rotorua Boys High's Performing Arts platform has increased its scope. In conjunction with our sister school Rotorua Girls’ High we did a production called ‘The Wiz’. It was successful in terms of promoting our schools within the Rotorua community. Also, from the 4th - 19th of July our Kapa Haka group Raukura will be attending a Performing Arts festival in Portugal. This will act as a stepping stone for the National Secondary School Kapa Haka competition held in Hastings. All boys high schools compete annually in a Super 8 Cultural festival. We had a number of placings in this year’s competition. We were awarded 2nd for senior Oratory, 2nd for senior Kapa haka and also did well within senior and junior Debating. As Arts Captain, it's motivating to see that our cultural and arts pursuits continue to thrive. Recently Rotorua Boys’ High School entered a competitive team into the regional choir competition, The Big Sing, for the first time. We came away with the award of ‘Best Impact’ and were recommended as a group by the judges.
